More on Google: My First Video Post!
Okay, last word on Google, I promise.
But this word will be a good word because it’s my first video post! Inspired by Emily, Enrico, Kerri, and Dr. Anonymous, I decided to join the fray. So have a look and tell me what you think!
I'm a critical care nurse, and a social media evangelist. Find out more

There’s definitely something about pixelrn.com that causes google to not return it in search results.
Simple googles like:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=pixelrn+google&btnG=Search
Return all kinds of references to your blog, but not your blog itself, as you pointed out.
But we know it has indexed your domain:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=site%3Apixelrn.com+google&btnG=Search
I’m curious if it’s not actually your content, but the way in which your domain is registered. I notice you’re using privacyprotect.org, which is a service the storm worm operator has been using in the domains needed to co-ordinate the network it creates. I’m wondering if google has started dropping the ranking of domains registered via it to try to reduce the amount of bot-poison in hit results.
I know some domain registration anonymizers are frowned upon in email spam filtering circles, so I wonder if search engines are doing the same.
Interesting stuff, good luck!

Very nice, Pixel!!! Congrats! I, too, love the community feeling of blogs…it makes my day! Guess I need to post more then.
Can’t wait to see your new blog. BTW, thanks for the “love” in your “About Me” section.

Hey Pixel…. great first video post. I’d like to start doing a video post but I have two problems with that. 1. I blog in a dungeon in my basement that is full of ummm….stuff… and 2. I’d have to wear make up and not type in my jammies!

Hi Beth - cute video. I’m sorry that Google turned on you, but I look forward to your new blog!

Hi All!
The good news is that I figured out the google mystery: MY SITE WAS HACKED BY SPAMMERS.
The bad news? I upgraded to latest version of wordpress and changed my password, and now I can’t get on to the admin page of pixelrn, therefore I can’t create a new post. I left a message at the wordpress forums but meanwhile it is a HORRIBLE feeling not to be able to get on to your own site.
Another upside is that I will be attending WordCamp NYC this Sunday, and there’s supposed to be a presentation on security. Day late and a dollar short, I know, but hopefully I will learn something useful.
This mess has certainly been a catalyst for launching me new blog. Hopefully I can have it up and running by the end of the week and post the full details of how hackers got into my wordpress blog.

Beth,
Nice job! Sorry about Google. I don’t understand them either. Going to BlogHer in DC?

Great video post. I might get brave and put one up, too. But, then again, I have a face that was made for radio, not TV:-)

Just curious. Good luck, if this is true! And if it is, then whoever the hacker is, get a life, and stop hating on blogs, it’s just pathetic.

That is terrible that your site was hacked! I am guessing that your style sheets were writeable. Scary!
Cate Schaefer — October 4, 2008 @ 12:01 am
Also - don’t get too bummed out about it. The important thing is that you knew there was a problem and you found out what it was. You did the right things. Nice video post BTW.
